Shockwave Therapy
Shockwaves are acoustic waves that carry energy to painful areas. The treatment and regeneration process of tendons and soft tissue occurs through:
- Improved metabolism and microcirculation
- Reduction of muscle tension and inhibition of contractions
- Removal of harmful substances from the diseased tissue, ie calcified deposits, lactic acid
- Increasing the production of collagen necessary for the reconstruction of damaged tissues
Shockwave therapy is used in the treatment of:
- Heel pain (plantar fasciitis, heel spurs)
- Achilles tendon pain
- Patella tendon pain (jumper’s knee)
- Anterior tibial muscle syndrome
- Pain in the hip area
- Shoulder pain
- Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow (epicondylitis)
- Shockwaves also target trigger points – sensitive areas in muscles that are painful under pressure and cause radiating pain and other symptoms in distant areas of the body.
